Raven and Sage Apothecary blossomed from a deep love for the earth, a passion for writing, and a heartfelt desire to help others. Eight years ago, I ventured into the world of herbalism and have never looked back.
For me, herbalism isn’t just teas and tinctures. It’s about connection, understanding, and respect. I firmly believe that plants have personalities, and if not treated right, they will revolt. I wasn’t born with a green thumb. Ten years ago, the only herbs I could confidently identify in a garden were parsley, mint, and rosemary. Now, I cultivate my favorite kitchen herbs and as many medicinal plants as possible in my space! During summer, my raised beds overflow with our family’s favorite produce, and the flowerbeds are lush with native wildflowers, including plenty of milkweed, of course, for the monarchs who always seem to find their way to my garden. They’ve held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember.
I’ve always loved writing, and a few years ago, I began doing it professionally with the guidance of my incredible mentor and coach, @KristinaYahnke. Writing is a deep passion of mine, but I yearned for more creative control. I racked my brain for days, and the idea of a blog kept resurfacing. Of course, my old nemesis, self-doubt, crept in and reared its ugly head. Writing for other people, I can do that. Writing for and about myself? That was scary. Terrifying, even. So, I brewed a STRONG cup of lavender tea, lit some incense, sent my intentions to the beautiful Universe, and started writing.
When the moon rises, I’m a mom, a blue-collar wife, a writer, and a spiritual herbalist who dreams of owning a farm with my husband, raising our children, and living off the land and all that the Earth has to offer. I’m excited to provide helpful information, exciting projects, and plenty of magical recipes to bring a little love, magic, and herbalism into your world. Because I know for a fact there are others out there who want to learn but have no idea where to start. I was there once. So, brew yourself a cup of tea and enter a realm where plants are storytellers, healers, and friends.
